Antebellum Dress

This dress was worn by Leona Denning (Peaslee) in 1863 in Atlanta. It's been in our family (as well as the name) since.

***Addendum: I photoshop edited the girls into one picture, and not very well, I might add. There is only one dress of great antiquity and heritage in that picture!

Holy crap -- you did a GREAT job of photoshopping -- I knever would have knowed it wasn't two dresses. I have to say, of the two children, that Mary Leona looks more genuinely antebellum. Emma looks more at home in the contemporary attire, and I specifically love Emma in the kinda mod 60's look you put her in sometimes. She's very hip chick beret and mod squad. Mary is more Charleston Junior League parasol slippers. Both of them as so cute as to be edible. I'll have a slice of each, please.

Sometimes I just think you're too talented to be a part of our family!! You're putting the rest of us to shame. What an absolutely fabulous job you've done with this picture. I have to have one, please!

I found the name Leona Denning written in an old book that belonged to my grandfather Willetts Peaslee. Can you tell me anything about her and her relationship to the Peaslee family. William Peaslee peaslaw@aol.com
